Sign of a good Recovery...

The signs of a good recovery or that you are on the way to one can be measured in a various different ways. You could measure it by when you're back at work, back playing sports or even healed well superficially. However, given I've just left Ramadaan, mine was being able to pray without the use of a chair for the first time today!

Although in a bit pain, its great to know that I've got the range of motion back in my knee to be able to kneel down now. I still have to be delicate and I doubt highly that I'd last a long time but it's a start. Gone slightly is the embarassment of sitting on a chair at the mosque aged 23, when all the others are in their 70s! Good times. Let my journey in the recovery lane continue...

I was in stitches....

I WAS in stitches.. but I'm not anymore! I had them removed this morning in a quick and easy process, in fact it took me longer getting there than I was actually at the surgery. Unfortunately, Ive got a bit of pain on my anterior medial horn (front inside bit) of my knee which I'll have to bring up with Mr Mahapatra (my Surgeon) when I see him next. Let see how we roll today... Bring on the good times in the sunshine. While I clean the house. Joy.

Hobbling without crutches...

So I've started to vernture around without crutches now, which is a relief. The bruising I get on my hands from those things are incredible. The stitches are coming out on Thursday which means I can start to look forward to some good sleep again!! (I like sleeping on my sides you see, and with stitches they just push into my knee and make it hurt)

There is also considerable pain on the underside of my kneecap at times, which I am ot appreciating. But other than that I believe Im on track for a decent recovery. I can wait to get back into the gym. Having 2 different sized legs is not an attractive look.

I thank you.

You should really read letters twice

or at least completely understand what it says the first time round!!...

Re-read my surgeons letter today. I read that I had a grade II patella (Thats right! My patella brings all the boys to the yard. Damn right.. It's better than yours. I'd teach you but I'd have to charge. Kelis anyone??). Unfortunately the higher the number, the worse it is. I have a luxating patella, I.e. it falls out of place occasionally!!

Distressing. I'm taking snooker up at this rate. Until I fuck up my elbow.

** UPDATE **: Asking for things to do whilst I'm injured in yesterday's posting.. resulted in true Asian mother answer. GET A JOB! (Regardless of the fact that I ACTUALLY ALREADY have one...)

Oh the pain!!!!

I prematurely tried walking without my crutches and my how I paid for it. My stiches feel like they're about to burst open and my knee cap is about to snap. Swelling like that of the tide.

Other than that, I did a spot of shopping yest
erday and bought a new tripod for my camera and some other snazzy stuff to go with it. Here's a picture I took below :D. By the way, I'm looking at taking up things during my knee rehab that don't involve my knee, so all ideas are welcome. So far, I'm think instrument or piano.. or THE DUBE.. (www.thedube.com)....
Have a nice day!

Changing of the Guard...

You wait for ages. Hope to see catch a glimpse and take a picture. Watch those fury cap squares get taken away and replaced with new ones. I've been waiting to change my dressing since the operation and this is how it was photographed!!

These ones aren't so pretty...

Why I love Harry Redknapp...

Time Killer update: Dhol vs Car Alarm

The biggest apology to women....

I've been one to lack sympathy for women over the years who have spent countless hours at the Salon getting waxed, believing the pain was just an over reaction....

Until my surgeon stuck some of my dressing on my leg hair!!!!! FUCK ME it hurts. Its possibly been the most painful part of this ordeal so far. Pulling them off definitely put a tear in my eye but on the plus side I do have incredibly smooth legs.. or A leg for that matter. :D

Making Crop Circles.....

Walking around the house, in a lot of pain on crutches.... I realise that I've left a trail of 'crop circles' in the carpet...

I had an clean out a few years ago but i don't remember it being this bad. I've been given a list of exercises to do. I know the NHS are making cut backs... but to give someone a physiotherapist after surgery is a cutback too far!!! Campaign anyone?? I think I need someone on my behalf because I don't feel like im going to walk anytime soon!!! :(

Today was the day....

Getting to the Hospital....

So knowing that you're going to the operating wards, knees and ankle to be specific.... They put this ward as far away from the car park that is imaginable to man. Good planning St.Albans. But finally got there and booked in. Shared my bay with 5 other guys, all who had knee replacements.

Was first into the operating theatres but not without drama!! Oh my god.... they wheeled down the wrong man at first and I was waiting for my anaesthetist (the man who puts you to sleep) to come in and the wheeled the first guy BACK OUT. 'This isn't Samir Domah!!!'... No shit sherlock... a 60 year white man with presumably wrinkly balls isn't really me. So they finally got me in (they made walk there the cheap bastards) and put me to sleep... ZZZzzzzzzz..

And I woke up in Port-Louis Mauritius, I kid you not! 4 nurses in the recovery room.. All mauritian... and guess what... they knew someone I knew.. We've even been to the same weddings! It got me special treatment and dose of morphine which I'm still riding out some 8 hours later...

THE NEWS YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR: They didn't fix it completely. It was too big a job. It was like having your polish builder turn around and tell you that he didn't have enough bricks to finish your house. I'm going to need (or knee-d shall I say) another operation to get it all fixed later in the year. They only cleaned out the cartilage today and they'll have to graph out of my hamstring and make a totally new ACL :( So we wait...

Back in the ward, got some smashing fish and mash and dozed off for a bit.

In Other snap news:
  • Indian man gets admitted and puts his gown on the wrong way round. I think he wanted someone to tickle his tackle... Terrible stuff!
  • Man next to me has reasonable fit wife and daughter
  • I don't want to have a knee replacement - Looks like it hurts after man almost passes out
  • People get a bit headfucked with anaesthetic - Woman doesn't want the operation (After she's already had it!!) and man threatens to punch staff who touch his dentures (which he doesn't have)
Click older posts for some snazzy pictures... stay tuned for some bad-ass updates....

Some swanky images.....

My damaged leg....
My leg next to my other leg
My finished hospital food. It was well tasty.....

Surgery in the morning!!!

The surgery is booked in for 7:30 tomorrow morning and my how I'm bricking it! I trust the Surgeon that's doing it, I'm just not looking forward to the months of rehabilitation that are lying ahead. Kicking a football again is the inspiration and I fancy another Mountain Trek in the future! Here's goes nothing!
